Describe your photography in 3 words:
Dainty, pensive, High-fructose-syrupy
What inspires you?
All types of cinema, oil paintings, female leads, forests and seas, music, biology. If there is one thing that does not inspire me, it is the city.
Digital or analogue?
There is rarely a situation in which I prefer digital over film, although I take photos of desserts, random dogs, and elderly men all day long with my cell phone camera and am fine with the medium.
Do you think it is more important to have a recognisable style or to be able to a lot of different ones?
I think it ought to be beneficial when you’re able to harbor a sort of individual specialty. A personable niche is what makes a photographer lovable.
Do you have a favourite model or photographer?
I have never had a dominating favorite. Most of my favorite photographers are unknown teenagers on flickr and elsewhere. My favorite models are my friends.
Internt: Curse or blessing in terms of credits?
Blessing. I wouldn’t know where to show my photos otherwise. Tape my prints to telephone poles or community bulletin boards? I might, I might.
Spring/Sumer or Autumn/Winter?
Spring and autumn. Both summer and winter are temperature extremists.
How did you start with photography?
My first camera was a digital SLR at age sixteen. I mainly took pictures of food and daisies and stop signs and boring things like that. Then I moved on to faces, film cameras, and eventually pretty dresses and shorelines.
Do you have and favourite designers?
I am too poor to afford designers, haha.
What would you have become, if photography wouldn’t have been an option?
Probably making illustrations of the kinds of pictures I wanted, or collages. A hip-hop dancer.
What’s your favourite magazine?
Currently Bullett magazine.
Can you still recall the first photo that actually got printed, or that you got money for?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/honeyuck/4425249106/in/photostream (see the photo below) - the first major print I sold in a solo show. I have a bit of an attachment to this image, as it was mostly accidental, it birthed itself.
What are your plans for the future?
Super 8 moving pictures.
